 In stark contrast to our down turned and slow moving economy progress on the Casas da
Vinha condominium on the beautiful Portuguese Silver Coast has been quite rapid and very uplifting.
With our two show houses almost finished ( April 2009 ) and all but 8 of the total 29 villas standing the completion date of March 2010 looks a certainty.Changes in the region have also occurred with the nearby town/city of Caldas da Rainha seeing the opening of a new shopping/ cinema center (films in English) and the completion of a new bowling alley.
Bombarral the nearest large town to the condominium has been selected as the location of a new theme park and planning applications have been submitted with construction to
commence in early 2010. The park will be aimed at children and adults
alike and will provide endless entertainment for all.
The medieval walled town of Obidos has just celebrated it’s annual chocolate festival with a whopping 20 TONS of the delightful stuff being sold in one week!( care for a square anyone? ).
Later in the year it will hold more celebrations among which will be the medieval festival in August when thosand of people will dress in clothes of that era and the entire town reverts back in time.
Closer to Carvalhal, the extensive works at Quinta da Louridos(2 mins. Driving) are in their final year.Tens of millions have already been spent in transforming parts of this fantastic vineyard into an oriental tranquility gardens.The results of this expenditure is spectacular and yet quietly breathtaking.With a man made lake stocked with large Koi and endless figures and statues from the orient one could spend an entire day here soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. Having explored the grounds why not treat yourself to some of the superb wines on sale at the vineyard’s own wine store where some genuine bargains can be had.
